Christmas 2019 news

In September Frances Shepherd, our Estate Officer’s mother-in-law, had her head shaved to raise money for Stanley Wilson Lodge and our Almshouses. The money raised enabled us to provide a festive eats gift for each of our residents – a Quality Street tub and a box of Mince Pies – and Estate Officer Victoria had a busy time making up the bags to deliver to all the residents in time for Christmas.

Also just before Christmas we were very sorry to say goodbye to our Business Officer, David Baslington, who is moving on to work with another charity. David was our very first Business Officer and he made the post his own, providing a solid foundation, and a fine legacy to pass on to his worthy successor, Sue Scammell (seen below, meeting resident Barry Joseph), who we are looking forward to working with. One of David’s last jobs was to accept Frances’ fund-raising cheque. We are most grateful to David for his immense hard work and wise counsel during his two years with us and wish him all the very best in his new post.
