Saffron Walden Initiative gets up to speed with Almshouses’ plans
We were delighted to host a visit from Saffron Walden Initiative recently, whose members came along to hear about the history of the Almshouses and our plans for the future. The group, which included chairman Jacqui Portway and membership secretary Peter Riding, also enjoyed a tour of the site, and were able to see inside one of our properties that is currently being renovated.
Jacqui and Peter said, “We were delighted to be invited to hear a talk from the Almshouses’ trustees – Saffron Walden’s Almshouses are very much part of the town’s history, especially in how we look out for those in need. It was also great to hear about their plans to replace the Primes Close Bungalows that face onto Park Lane with a plan that will create new, accessible accommodation for even more people in the future.”
Our Chair, Gary Hyams, commented, “Having members of Saffron Walden Initiative visit us was a great experience, especially taking them through our plans for the future. It’s great to have such an historic past, but it’s what we can do today and tomorrow for our residents that matters most.”
